Some moments change everything.
Theyâre not loud or grand, but they spark something inside you that canât be undone. This grazing table was one of those moments.
It wasnât a paid job. It wasnât even official. But it was the first time I felt like Sajtina was more than just a dream. It was real. It was happening.
The Friendship That Started It All đžđ
Letâs rewind a bit.
In 2021, I spontaneously booked a last-minute trip to Greece and found myself in need of a dog hotel. I called the number of a place nearby and was greeted by the warmest voice. We clicked instantly. That phone call turned into a friendship that grew deep, fast. Since then, sheâs become one of the people closest to my heart.
She and her husband not only run a dog hotel, but also a dog shelter (DSZĂ ĂllatmentĂŠs), and they regularly organize donation events to support their foundation.
When she told me about their upcoming Family Day, filled with kidsâ activities like glitter tattoos, coloring, hair braiding, and even horseback riding, she asked if I could maybe prepare a little cheese board for the guests. Of course I said yes... and then immediately decided I was going to go all in.
Overboard in the Best Way đ§şđŤđ§
I didnât just make a cheese board - I created a full grazing table. It was overflowing with color, textures, flavors. I wanted everyone to find something theyâd love, even if they werenât into cheese. There were ham-wrapped asparagus spears, dips, breads, fruits, nuts, crackers, veggies - something for everyone.
Their biggest volunteers, a vegan couple, had their very own board too. I made a faux cream cheese dip out of tofu, olive oil, and nutritional yeast. I made sure every detail felt intentional and loving.

Terrified but Thrilled đŹđŤ
It was my first time preparing food for a crowd, and I was so nervous. I put myself under a ton of pressure - entirely self-imposed of course - but I wanted it to be perfect. And strangely, even with all the nerves, I enjoyed every single moment of it.
Seeing people admire the table, whispering that it looked like art, even hesitating to touch it at first because they didnât want to mess it up⌠it was magical.
The best part? My friend was grateful, yes, but I was the one who felt the most grateful. She trusted me with this. She believed in me before I even believed in myself.
A Memory Iâll Always Carry
Even though Iâm not accepting orders or running the catering business at the moment, this day will always hold a special place in my heart.
It was the day I realized I could actually do this. That I had something to offer. That maybe, just maybe, there was a path waiting to be built from cheese, figs, and passion.
This was the spark. â¨
And one day, Iâll return to it - with even more love than before.
